About www.floraofgreenland.com
Jon Feilberg, Ida Jacobsen & Flemming Rune at Zackenberg, 2018 - 74°27’N.
www.floraofgreenland.com is a website for the new national flora of all vascular plants in Greenland. It builds on 40 years of field research and photography by Flemming Rune, 15 years of dedicated field guidance and 6 decades of research by Jon Feilberg, and 7 years of field assistance and cartograhphic work of plant distributions by Ida B. D. Jacobsen, Greenland Institute of Natural Resources (GINR). The work is firmly anchored in Greenland through the cooperation with GINR.
The flora will comprise all species found in Greenland since the early 19th century, a total of more than 450 species, with descriptions, keys, and iillustrations selected from 30,000 photographs taken in the period 1985-2023. After completion the flora will be published as a handbook, and in the process manuscripts will be accessible on this website.
Aage V. Jensen Charity Foundation has generously supported the work from 2017 to 2024.
A bilingual field guide 'Wild Flowers of Greenland' covering 270 species was published in 2011.
Parts of that are integrated in the new flora.
